Weekly Obsessions

I am totally obsessed with Cumblerland Farms iced coffee right now.  There's a store right down the street from my house.  I stopped in to get gas recently, and saw a totally decked out coffee station.  I was tired, so I decided to get one.  They have all kinds of flavors etc so I could literally make whatever I wanted!  And the best part, when I went to check out, I realized that it was only ONE DOLLAR!  Insane.

I can't get enough of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara! (Scandalous name, I know).  I LOVE natural brissle brushes on mascara (hate hate hate those plastic ones), which this has.  This mascara is kind of clumpy, but honestly thats what I love about it.  It definitely doesn't give you a "natural" look.  This makes your lashes jet black and POW in your face amazing.  Random tip though: I think the sample size is better than than full size?  I've had 2 samples and 1 full size of this so far (see - told you it was obsession status!) and that's def been my experience.  I looked up reviews and other girls said the same thing.  SO if you see any samples of this mascara free with purchase/VIB points/whatever, def snag some - it's amazinggggg.

AND like everyone else in the world, I've been obsessed with Orange is the New Black this week.  So much so, that I finished in 3 days.  (Piper was kinda mean this season, yeah??) Is Ruby Rose coming back for Season 4??! Ahhh it's almost too much to handle.

Throwback Concert

Last night my friend Nicole and I went to a concert with Nelly, TLC and New Kids on the Block!

We took the train from work and 40 minutes later we were in Boston :) It was seriously sooo much fun!  It was awesome to hear some throwback jams and dance/sing along to songs from like 15 years ago (totally brought my back to my TRL days).  IF there are any reunion tours in your area this summer, def check some of them out!

Just be sure to get a few drinks before, because those PRICES.... ($11.50 for a Bud Light?!)

My Must Have Makeup Brushes

I have about a zillion makeup brushes.  But really, you don't need that many.  Here are my must have brushes, which I think provide everything you need to complete any look!

1.  A Flat Kabuki. This brush is a total must have for applying your foundation.  You want something short and very dense.  This will help you get your foundation really into your skin, giving you a flawless finish.

2.  A Tapered Brush.  These are sometimes called blush brushes or highlighter brushes.  Whatever they call it, it just needs to be small, fluffy, and almost comes to a point.  This brush is an absolute must must must for me, for setting my under eyes.  If you're like most women I know, the under eye area is always a concern.  After adding concealer, it's super important for me to set the under eye area with a translucent powder, otherwise - crease city - no thanks!

3.  A good ole Powder Brush. Just something big and fluffy.  I use this to sort of contour/bronze all together.  On normal days, I don't do a harsh contour a la Kim Kardash.  I usually just use a regular bronzer, and sweep onto my face in the contour locations (below the cheek bone and the temples of the forehead).  This gives a nice natural contour look, without looking to extreme.

4. A Blush Brush. I got this purple one from some discount website, but any blush brush will do!

5.  A Large Tapered Powder Brush. This is basically a larger version of #2.  It's perfect for adding highlighter, and sort of buffing out any harsh lines you may have for applying your bonzer or blush.

6.  A Big Blending Brush. Ok, so this brush is technically a concealer brush, but it's PERFECT for blending your eyeshadow on your crease.  It's both dense and fluffy, so you can really buff your crease color on there.  Don't be afraid to use brushes for things other than what they're labeled for!  If it works, just go with it.  And seriously, this is my #1 favorite brush.  I really can't do makeup without it, and I honestly use it every single day.

7.  Fluffy Crease Brush.  This is what I use to blend dark colors on the outer V of my eye lid.  This one is less dense than the big blending brush, so it gives more of an airbrushed effect, perfect for darker colors you don't want to go too heavy on.

8.  A Flat Shader Brush.  A must have for packin' on the shadow all over your lid.  These Elf brushes are amazing for this, and they are only $1 at Target!!! I have like 5!

9.  A Wide Shader Brush. I love a brush like this for cream colors under the brow bone!  It's super easy, and just seems to blend better than with a smaller brush.  I like this to be slightly fluffy too, and not totally stiff.

10.  Disposable Mascara Wands. I use these things like they are going out of style.  I use them to blend out my eyebrows, declump a clumpy mascara - and even brush a clean one on my lips.  I know, so weird, but it's an amazing exfoliater for your lips if they are dry/flaky, without being too harsh.  I can't be without these!

11. The Beauty Blender.  I know, spending $19 on a sponge sounds insane.  BUT once you have this thing, you seriously can't live without it.  It applies your foundation perfectly, blends out your concealer seamlessly, and you can even apply powder with it.  It looks small here, because it's dry, but it doubles in size when its damp (which is how it's meant to be used).  It lasts a long time (I've had mine for up to 6 months), and use it every single day.  So really, considering how much you use it, and how long it lasts, the $19 really isn't bad.  TRUST ME, once you the plunge and try this thing out, you'll know what I'm talking about ;)

A Room With No Closet?!

I recently moved into a new place, and it's cute but super old (def have that whole shabby chic thing going on).

The worst part in these old houses, is total lack of storage (the bedroom has NO closet whatsoever!). SO I figured I'd share my little solution if any of you are lacking in the closet space.

I ended up getting this guy.  I actually got him off Craigslist for $90 BECAUSE 1.  I did not feel like driving to Ikea and 2. I did NOT want to be involved in assembling this thing (let's get real, I'd obvi have Nils do it).

AND I actually LOVE it!  I was kind of nervous, because I wasn't sure if would be too flimsy, but it's totally not!  It's pretty solid, and soooo heavy (moving it was not fun - but so glad we got it!)

It totally holds a decent amount of clothing.

AND it actually doesn't take up too much space.  IF you need some extra storage in your life, you totally need to check these out (even if you do have a closet, but need more room!).

The Day I Became a Fisher(wo)man

I had a few days off from work this week!  Nils is into fishing and he took me with him one day.

Like, real fishing.  Out on the seven seas.  He got me a license and everything.  I'm so legit.

The last time I went fishing I had a Little Mermaid themed pole.  Nils got me an official fishing pole and everything, so this was a whole new experience for me (side note: I asked for a Frozen themed pole this time, but he opted for a real instead...bummer).

It was SUCH a pretty day!

I mean seriously, does it get better than that?!

I literally had no idea what I was doing, but LUCKILY I had a good teacher.

Not gonna lie, I was a little rusty at first.  BUT I totally got the hang of it eventually!  And it actually was so fun.  Even though I didn't catch any fish, I loved it!  It was soooo much fun to be outside, with music and a few drinks (an unbeatable combo, am I right?)

Eventually my wrist started to hurt, so I def need more practice.  I decided to call it quits and just enjoy the scenery (aka cocktails).

Nils on the other hand was totally focused!

And it paid off because....he caught one!

He said it was small, but idk looks pretty big to me! I can't wait to go again because I am determined to catch one!

Beauty for Every Budget: Bronzers!

SO - it's summer and we ALL want that gorge summer glow.

Here are a few of my fave bronzers that make you look like bronzed beach goddess.

First off is good ole NYC Sunny.  This stuff is only $3.59 at Target, but you can get at pretty much ANY drug store.  I LOVE this bronzer, and it's one of my all time faves, regardless of price.  It's a completely matte warm bronze color.  Perfect to give yourself a sun kissed glow with no shimmer at all - making it an easy wear for anyone.  I seriously prefer this over some of my more expensive bronzers.  And under 4 bucks?!?! How can you go wrong :)

Another great one that's easy on the wallet is Sleek Cosmetics Face Contour Kit.  So this one technically is a contour kit and includes a highlighter (which is also fab), however the bronzer in this is seriously a fave.  I just got this a few months ago, and I've already hit pan!  This one is also completely matte, but it's a little less orange toned than the NYC Sunny, if that's the look you're going for.  It's super easy to blend, lasts all day, and only 10 bucks.  This is a UK Brand, so you can't buy it in stores in the US - BUT they do shipping for as low as $2 - so def work checking out!

Face Contour Kit

Up next is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil.  Too Faced is def one of my favorite makeup brands.  Their packaging is sooo cute, and it seriously sucks me in every. single. time.  This bronzer is no exception.  It's so smooth and blends right into your skin, giving a natural look.  AND it smells like chocolate.  Like legit Hershey Kisses.  And who doesn't want to smell like chocolate?! It's so just one of those things you can dust all over your face without even thinking about, because it looks great.  It is a tad pricier at $30, however I love this stuff so much, I already have another on backup for when I run out of the one I'm currently uses.  Because I just can't live without it!

Last but not least is the legendary Nars Laguna.  This one is the most expensive at $39 (ouch) but honestly, its worth it.  This baby is a tan bronzer with tiny flecks of gold shimmer in it.  BUT the thing in, it doesn't really look shimmery?  That's the tough thing about alot of non-matte bronzers - when they have shimmer in them, sometimes you can end up looking like a straight up disco ball (not always ideal).  But for realz, Nars got it right.  THIS product screams summer all over it.  It's tan, and glowy and just so pretty on the skin.

BUT take it from me, you don't need to spend a ton to look fab.  ANY of these products are perfect for completing your look this summer!

Weekly Obsessions

This week I have been SOOOO obsessed with my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac!  I've seen tons of celebs with this bag (Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence just to name a few) and it looked so cute on all of them that I had to have it.  I got it for Christmas, but I really only started using it regularly recently.  It's legit the perfect summer bag.  It's so light and the grey one I have literally goes with anything.  It's perfect for walking around the city, shopping, etc.  The chain strap and fringe zippers add a little pizazz and truly make jeans and a teeshirt look put together.  These are usually $195 but the one I have is on sale right now for $130! (They come in like a million colors).  IF you have been looking for a cute cross over bag for summer- get this one!

I have always been a silver/white gold type of person, but lately I have been LOVING me some gold chains.  I don't know if it's because of summer etc, but I've been wearing gold necklaces every single day.  I've been stocking up on cheap but trendy/cute necklaces from Target, TJ Maxx, and my personal fave, Burlington Coat Factory.  Much like my Mini Mac bag (above), a pretty gold necklace can make jeans and a teeshirt look fab.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been sooo sick this week with strep throat (yuck).  Because of this, I've been super lazy with my makeup, and looking for the easiest way to look presentable. I decided to bust out my Maybelline Color Tattoos.  I haven't used these in forever and I forgot how much I love them.  I've been smudging Bad to the Bronze all over my lid and sort of blending it up.  It totally gives a pretty, slightly shimmery look which looks like it took way longer than 30 seconds.  I love rediscovering things I haven't used in a long time - and I think I found my perfect summer go-to eye product!  These would be perfect for a beach day, etc where you don't want to look totally glam, but want a little extra something.

My Sick Essentials

Guys! Sorry I've been MIA - however I was plaged with the horrible strep throat! Ugh!

I've been taking my antibiotics regliously, so I am FINALLY on the mend!

Being sick is the absolute worst thing ever.  Like, ever ever.

SO here a few treats I've been using to help me feel better.

OK, this goes without saying, but an IPad with Netflix is an absolute MUST.  It's perfect because you can binge watch you favorite shows (hello Gilmore Girls for the 46872 time) and take it where ever you go.  So, need some cough drops, a tissue, etc?  No need to press pause.  It's kind of redic, but, you're sick! So whatever makes you feel better.

Next is something delcious and easy to eat.  My go to for sure is peanut butter toast.  It's light, easy to make, and tastes sooo good.  Especially with some cinnamon sprinkled on top - yum!

Next are these Strawberry Halls. These things have been SUCH a life saver this week!  They actually taste sooo good and they truly do wonders for a sore throat! I'm legit obsessed.

And last but not least goes without saying - is water and sleep.  Seriously I've been drinking like 2 gallons of water a day (or at least as much as I can get down) and sleeping 14 hours a night.  No joke, last night I went to sleep at 7pm.  It was broad day light, and the birds were cherping.  But whatever yo - I need my beauty sleep! And it def paid off because this AM I woke up feeling a million times better.

Weekend Recap!

I just LOVE weekends :)

Friday after work, a group of work friends decided to hit the town! We went to a local pub, and a few of my gfs met me there.  No better way to kick off the weekend!

Saturday, my friend Kryssi drove up to visit me.  I just moved into a new apartment, so we decided to do some exploring and find the best local hot spots.

And it was the PERFECT day to walk around....

After checking out the neighborgood, we decided to get some drinks!
And experience all the local dives had to offer ;)

One of my favorite places was this ale house...they had a bunch of unique cheers.  I ordered the "Clown Shoes Clementine" and it was truly summer in a glass!

Hope you all had a fab weekend too! xoxo

What I Eat in a Day!

To start my day yesterday, I had some coffee with coconut milk and a piece of toast with P2B!  I LOVE P2B - it tastes just like peanut butter but a fraction of the calories :)

I have about an hour commute to work each day, so I needed a little something for the drive to get me going!

When I got to work, I had 2 hard boiled eggs (scooped out about half of the yolk) and a half cup of blueberries!

Late in the morning, I needed a little snack.  I had some some baby bell peppers and a babybel light cheese.  These peppers look huge because they take up the entire plate, but this was a small salad plate :)

For lunch, I had about 12 wheat thins (the tomato basil kind, OMG so good) plus a salad with shrimp and salsa.

Around 3pm, I started to get hungry again, so I had a nectarine and a low fat Greek yogurt.  This was a great combo and definitely held me over until dinner.

Nils went fishing after work, so I was on my own for dinner!  I decided to make a little pizza.  This is a flatout sandwich wrap, which I toasted in the oven for about 5 minutes until it started to brown a bit.  Then I added a few teaspoons of tomato sauce, a sprinkle Diaya cheese, and some grilled mushrooms.  This is perfect for a pizza fix, but under 200 calories!

Oh - and I also had a glass of rose, because ya know, I'm fancy like that ;)

I can't get enough!: Neutral Eyes with a POP of color

GUYZ - Can I just tell you I am SO obsessed with this Too Faced palette.

Like, seriously, I'm finding it hard to go to anything else (as you can tell from the pic - this baby has been used and abused big time).  The colors blend like an absolute dream.  It's warm, and creamy, and so perfect on it's own for a nautral look, or paired with something else.  A few days ago, I did a shimmer all over the lid with this palette.

Today, I did a completely netural look, and then I used some Milani Liquid Eye in Aqua to give it a little pop of color (so fun for summer).

I absolutely love buying affordable makeup in crazy colors.  I got this aqua eyeliner on sale at CVS for like $2.  I think it's great to try something outside of your normal comfort zone, but what if it turns out to be a total dud?!  By playing around with more affordable options, you can get the look you're going for with breaking the bank.  IF you decide you the look is just a show shopper (which it obvi usually is), then it's fun to splurge on something you already know you'll love :)

Hautelook Haul/Review! Featuring The Balm

I know I have mentioned Hautelook before, but guys, I'm seriously obsessed.

SO I thought I'd share my latest and greatest haul!

About a month ago (yes a month...we'll get to that) I saw The Balm on there.  I have a bunch of their products already, so I decided to grab some more!

Hautelook has flash sales...meaning...the products are only available for a limited time (less than a week, or until they sell out, and they always sell out).  So if you see something you like...you better get on that girl!!

(PS - it's not just makeup, they have clothes, stuff for your home, stuff for the man in your life, etc).

The first thing I saw was the Hot Mama blush.  It's originally $20 but I got it for $10.  It's so shimmery and pretty (but not sparkly) and I just LOVE it.

Next my eyes came across the Bahama Mama bronzer (again orginaly $20 and I got it for $10).  I instantly added it to my cart, because, who doesn't want to look like a Bahama Mama?! This has absolutely zero orange or shimmer in it whatsoever, so it's perfect for contouring.

Next I saw the Cindy-Lou Manizer. I have the Mary-Lou, which I LOVE and wear almost every day, so I decided to get another (and again - half off! Snagged for $12 instead of the usual $24).  The Cindy-Lou is a pretty shimmery pink.  I'm so pale, that on me it's more like a blush/blush topper.  BUT if you are tan, you could totes use this as a highlighter.

So - total was $32, and at this point, I just wanted to hit the free shipping, so I kept going....

Because I'm on my tinted moisturizer kick, I decided to get the BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer.  I've only used it once so far, but so far so good!  I'll def be using it more as we really get into the summer (originally $25, but I picked up for $12.50).

At lastly, I love a good toner in my life now and again, so I grabbed the Geranium Face Toner.  I honestly have no idea what a geranium smells like, so I couldn't tell you if this is it or not.  But I have used this a few times now, and it works good!  Originally $14.50, but I got for just $7, so why not?!

OVERALL - I LOVE the goods!  My only complaint - the shipping time - oh em geee the shipping time.

The Hot Mama blush came about 2.5 weeks after I placed the order.  The box came and it was TINY!  I knew something was up.  I opened it, and there was only one thing in the box.  Bummer!  The rest came about 1.5 weeks AFTER that (so let's say 4 weeks total).

Honestly, I didn't actually need any of this stuff...I just, you know, wanted it.  SO I will still continue to use Hautelook in the future, but just with that little shipping issue in mind.  The deals are GREAT, but if you need something by a certain time frame, make SURE you give yourself at least a month for processing/shipping...it not more!

PS - Don't download the app (it's so adiciting!)

Sunless Tanning Tips

Tis the Season!

...for some self tanning action ;)

So I'd thought I'd share a few of my faves!

First up is the St. Tropez Tanning Mousse! EVERYONE raves about this one (and I like it too, although its not my fave).  It goes on crazy dark and honestly kind of green.  You'll panic at first, but don't worry, the green doesn't last.  You take a shower a few hours after using this, and the "excess" washes off. Once it does, you're left with a nice natural tan.  This one is good for a natural glow, and it's super easy.  Only thing is, you MUST shower after using it, otherwise you'll have this extra layer on you - not a cute look.

Next is is the SunlessPro.  And I have to say, this one is one of my faves.  It's a spray, which I was kind of scared of.  BUT when used with a mitt, it gives you some great color!  And it's sooo ridiculously easy to use, you get zero streaks.  This one is a little "less natural" (which I kinda like??).  It's slightly more orangey/bronzey than the St. Tropez.  This one you can usually get at salons, but they have it on Amazon too!

And last but certainly not least, is the TanWise.  THIS is probably the one I would recommend.  The other ones are great, but they are in the $30-40 range.  Ouch!  This baby is only $10.99 and you can pick it up at Sally's Beauty Supply.  And honestly, it works just as good, if not better, than the others.  You just need to make sure you use a mitt and rub this in, because you can get some orange patches by your hands/feet.  So if you just do that, you'll be good to go!

And quick tip!  I use a mitt for my body, and a makeup brush to buff in my hands/feet (I just use a $3 elf brush, and it works great).  This totally eliminates the orangey patches - give it a try!
