Weekly Obsessions

Hey guys! TGIF!!! Here are a couple little delights I have been loving this week :)

First is my Cedar Street Wallet by Kate Spade! My bf got this for me for my bday, so I've been using it a few weeks now.  And oh em geeeee I just love it.  I have mine in "Rosy Dawn" which is a pretty dusty rose color (not that the name didn't give it away or anything).  These come in sooo many cute colors - perfect for Spring/Summer! (I am totally feeling that coral one I put above).  The wallet I had before was SO HUGE.  Like, the size of a small purse.  This one is great because it's not too big, but also has enough room to hold the goods!  Perfect size a cross over purse too.  AND! If you aren't signed up for Kate's emails already (like how I refer to her as though she's my friend?) you need to! Because she often does 40-75% off sales! Yes please :)

Next!  Is this tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier.  OK, so not gonna lie, I kinda cringed at the price tag on this one.  But honestly, it's kinda perfect for summer.  You can get a good amount of coverage off it, without looking too heavy (a must for those harsh summer rays).  Also it's slightly glowy which I am always a fan of.

Lastly! Is the FitBit!  I ALSO got this for my bday, and I'm kind of obsessed.  According to this bad boy, you should aim for making 10,000 steps in a day.  Um, guys.  That's alot!  Especially if you have a desk job like me.  SO I look at it like a challenge.  It slightly vibrates every 2,000 steps and lights up (those are those little lights you see on the pic).  So you'll just be moseying along and you'll hit one of your milestones!  It's so fun and motivating, that you actually WANT to keep walking to hit the next!  So - see the dead last parking spot at Target?  Yeah, that baby is all mine.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!!

What I Eat in a Day!

Here is a typical rundown of what I eat in a work day!

If I'm being honest here, I spend nearly all of my time before work perfecting my winged liner.  SO - that doesn't leave me a whole lot of time to grab breakfast/lunch/snacks.  I also tend to work long hours, and usually have stuff to do after work (aka watch Jaclyn Hill's latest toturial on YouTube) so the work days are all about grab and go for me.

LASTLY - I am sorta still attempting that 21 day fix my friend Nicole has me on (OMG GIRL - that DVD is HARD!).   I didn't do it over the weekend because lets be real, I had too much fun going on to follow any rules.  BUT regardless, this is all stuff I like, and would probably have anyways.

Breakfast:
2 hardboiled eggs and some strawberries.  Sometimes eggs freak me out a little, but these are fresh off the farm which made me feel ok about them.

Snack:
Some greek yogurt and about half of this banana.  I know I know, I'm supposed to get plain because these kind have too much sugar.  But this was all I had.  I mixed in some banana.  And it was delish :)

Lunch:
Just a plain ole salad with tuna.  There is lettuce, cabbage, red onion, carrots and some cherry tomatoes on this.  Oh and tuna of course.
And I also had some plain whole grain pita chips.  Honestly these are kind of meh.  BUT to spice it up I added some onion powder to the bag and shook it around.  It sorta tasted like Fungions after - def an improvement!

Snack:
Later in the afternoon a had a snack of some veggies and plain hummus!

 Dinner:
And finally for dinner!  I had some brussel sprouts (one of my faves!) a small sweet potato I cut up like fries and cooked in a frying pan with soem Pam and garlic powder, AND a bean veggie burger.

All Matte Makeup

Going back to work after a 3 day weekend can be rough.  (I knew I hit my snooze button this AM.  Twice.)

I was so not in the mood to fuss with my makeup, so I decided to keep it simple and just do a basic every day all matte look.

On my eyes I have the Too Faced Natural Matte Palette.  This is such a great every day/can do no wrong palette.  I got it a few weeks ago and it's totally becoming my faves.  I also tried my new Kat Von D eyeliner - I like!

For my lips I used Becca Beach Tint in Watermelon.  This stuff is kind of drying, but I just use some lip balm over it and I'm good to go.  It is super pretty and smells sooo good, so it's def worth it.

And LASTLY - I needed a little JLo glow in my life, so I used an oldie but a goodie - The Balm Hot Mama.  I got this off Hautelook for maybe 10 bucks.  The Balm actually goes on Hautelook all the time, so be on the lookout, they get some good stuff sometimes!

Memorial Day Canoeing Adventure

For Memorial Day, Nils and I decided to go canoeing! (Nils very outdoorsy and I...well let's just say I try ;) I have fun and totally enjoy it, but I'd seriously be clueless in the wilderness alone!)

So we he loaded up the gear...

...grabbed some snacks...

...and were off!

We must have picked a good day too, because we saw a bunch of wildlife! Birds of all kinds, turtles, muskrats, beavers, etc.  It was sooo much fun!

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend as well! xoxo

Harrisville Getaway!

I woke up bright and early Saturday AM to hit the road for Harrisville!  My cousins have a lake house there, and a bunch of my family went up for the weekend.

It was sooo fun!  The house is super rustic and mismatched, and I love that kind of stuff.  I kept saying "It's so cute!" and my cousin would get mad and say, "Ash it's not CUTE.  This is a hunting cabin - it's manly."

It was right in front of a lake - and it was an absolutely gorgeous day!

We had a fire, made food and played cards all night.  And needless to say...

A great time was had by all :)

Little Sephora Haul

I came home from dog sitting Friday night to find this little gem on my doorstep.

I don't know about you guys, but seeing a new box from Sephora arrive seriously warms my heart.

So what did I get?!

I went on to get eyeliner, and I ended up getting the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (black) because I hear everyone rave about it.  The tip is super fine, so it seems like it would be easy to work with.  I'm excited to see how it performs!

SINCE I was on there, I got some goods for my hair too because it's looking a little fried lately.  I ended up getting Living Proof Perfect Hair Day.  It smells like grapefruit, which I am a huge fan of.

And lastly!  It was Memorial Day weekend and I was looking PALE.  I mean, I am pale, so that was no surprise, but I figured no better time to get a little self tan action going.  I have a bunch of self tanners I need to use up, so I ended up getting the ONLY tanning mitt they had in stock (apparently other people had the same idea I did).  I used it Saturday AM, and it does the job just fine.

I scored some great freebies too!  It was my birthday month, so I had 2 Nars lip crayons for my Beauty Insider gift.  I also got a Dior Mascara and some Bare Essentials powder.  I'm going to TRY and embrace tinted moisturize and mineral powder for the summer, because sometimes my cake face isn't completely appropriate for the beach (but I love me some cake face so that doesn't stop me).  So we'll see how that goes ;)

Friday Night Date Night

Friday after work my boyfriend (Nils) and I decided to meet at Not Your Average Joes for a quick bite and then go to the movies!

I got there before him and decided to find some seats at the bar.  It was Friday, and 5:30pm.  SO, naturally the first thing on MY mind was...

A nice chilled glass of pinot ;)

He came shortly after.  They gave us some bread and some yummy evoo.  I ordered a Roasted Tomato Flatbread pizza - it was really good and a perfect little Friday treat.

Soon enough it was time for the movie, so we scooted on over to the theatre.  Inside the theatre was a little bar - which I could not pass up!  I got another pinot and I couldn't of been happier.  We saw Mad Max in 3D.  Normally these types of movies aren't my fave, BUT I actually did like it!

Great little kick off to the weekend :)

Weekly Obsessions

The Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks  are amazing! They are extremely long wearing and sooo pretty on the lips! I hate spending $21 a pop, but honestly I think these are sorta worth it.  I have Peony and it's such a pretty every day lip (for my super pale self).  If you've been eyeing this but haven't made the plunge - just go for it!

THIS WEBSITE.  OMG.  I am beyond obsessed.  It has gently used clothing/accessories for ridiculously cheap!  AND if you sign up for their emails, they do 40% off once and a while!  (So um, yeah, see that very cute J Crew dress for only 12 bucks but would be $80 in the store?  YOU COULD GET IT FOR $7.20! Literally dollars!).  I ordered about $100 worth of product which came to like 10 dresses, 4 shirts and 2 pairs of shoes.  Everything is completely perfect! The quality is amazing.  They must dryclean on something before you get it, because everything comes in the cutest packaging with little tags that say "Renewed with Love".  Dying.

I'm a huge fan of Lush and their Rose Jam Shower Gel is one of my faves! The smell is nice and not too strong.  The rosy scent is perfect for Spring! It IS limited edition however, so IF you see it be sure to snag it!

Yesterday I got an amazing little surprise from my coworker - an edible arrangement!

I don't know what they put in these things, but they are AMAZING.  The sweetest and juicest fruit ever!  They are a tad pricy, BUT if you have the moola and you need a gift for someone, I totally recommend these babies.

And can we just take a minute to talk about the chocolate.  OMG.  It's soooo goooooddddd.  Like dangerously good.  I gobbled up like, 7 chocolate covered strawberries in 3 minutes flat.

PS - I totally thought those white fluffy things were marshmellows.  Turns out they were bananas.

For dinner, I decided to have a quick and easy stir fry.  I am doggy sitting for my friend, and I picked up some groceries after work.  BUT I totally forgot to pick up any sort of soy sauce etc.  I rummaged through their spice cabinet and found this:

Looks super basic and kind of meh.  BUT it was really good! Packed way more flavor that I thought - I think I am going to pick a few up :)  I used this to grill my veggies and shrimp!  Then I added about 1/2 cup of brown rice.  It was really simple and really delicious!

After dinner I was pooped so I decided to watch some YouTube and hit the hay.  I woke up really refreshed, so I played around with a nude lip - and I am LOVING the outcome.  This is Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked 2:

Travel Essentials!

My friend Laura asked me to dog watch for her while she is away on a tropical destination with her man.

(Ahm! Jelly much?!?)

ANYWHO - Since I will be away from my casa for a few days, I had to pack some essentials!

The goods!!:

Some of my must haves include:

  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - Because your girl has dry skin, gotta get that moisture!
  • Mac Prolongwear Concealer - My holy grail, dessert island must have item!
  • Tarte Setting Powder - I got this mini as a freebee; love those for travel (and is it just me, but aren't miniature things just too cute to handle?)
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold - I mean...shimmer? Rose gold? Do I really need to say more?
  • Tarte Rainforest Afterdark Palette - LOVE these types of palettes for travel.  This one has 6 gorge shadow, a full sized Tarte blush a highlighter and a bronzer.  Urban Decay's Naked on the Run is great one too :)
  • Lorac Get Hot Palette - I got this baby of Hautelook for like 12 bucks, and it was seriously one of the best makeup purchases I've ever made.  It has a matte cream, crease color and outer v color, plus some neutral shimmers.  IF you aren't subscribed to Hautelook already, you NEED to check it out immediately.
  • Sleek Cosmetics Contour Palette - Because everyone needs a good contour in their life.
  • Jordana Fabuliner - Gotta have my liquid liner pens!
  • Brow pencil - I have been using the Almay brow pencil in blonde...love how small the tip is, and the other end has a mascara wand which is super convenient!
  • 2 Mascaras - Love using 2 mascaras, because one usually does what the other doesn't.  Ex: use one that volumizes and one that lengthens, to get the perfect falsie look.  This week I am using Tarte Gifted and Jordana Best Lash Extreme.
  • And last but certainly not least - a few fave lipsticks - mine are Mac Buttecream and Estee Lauder Electic Mauve.

What are your travel essentials?!

21 Day Fix?!

OK Friends!

Yesterday I started - the 21 Day Fix (sorta - I modified a bit).

What is the 21 Day Fix (aka 21DF) might you ask?

It's basically a diet plan where you portion out your servings.  Depending on your age, weight, etc depends on how many servings you get a day.

Here is a quick and dirty cheat sheet of what I am doing:

You can purchase containers in these sizes, but I didn't do that, since I have plenty of perfectly good tupperware sitting in my kitchen cabinet.

So instead!  All I did was take a measuring cup, and full with water to the specific amounts.  I then added the water to my tupperware, and marked with a sharper to where it filled.

And voila! My own homemade preportioned containers.

So - how did day 1 go?!

Honestly...it was pretty easy!  I did feel hungry from time to time, but not too bad and usually around meal times so it was time to eat anyways (good thing because no one wants to see #hangry Ash).

HERE was my meal plan!

Breakfast - 1 egg, 4 egg whites with hot sauce, orange
Snack - Greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, granola
Lunch - Salad with Tuna and light dressing
Snack - Hummus and veggies
Dinner - Veggie burger, grilled mixed veggies, sweet potato
Dessert - Spoonful of P2B

So it's actually a good amount of food!  Let's see how Day 2 goes....

IF it goes well, I MAY even post a before and after pic....eeek!

PS -  I heard about this plan from my fabulous friend Nicole! You can check her out here!
